Well, it is another hot summer day in July. I love the summer, but I feel as though these hot days are doing the same thing to me as the cold days of January. Making me want to stay inside and eat. I love summer mornings on the patio, drinking coffee, watching Savannah and Isaac ride bikes or swim in the kiddie pool. Unfortunately, after that it's pretty much "okay, lets go inside and have some ice cream." Sigh. And the lack of exercise gets to me. For whatever reason (usually extreme humidity), my walking usually slacks off this time of year. When I am not walking, or really active, I get kinda moody. It's not good for my mental psyche. Ah well, I will just have to give myself a hard kick in the booty. If only I were flexible enough to do that.

After a short playtime outside, and watching "The Princess and the Frog", we went for a drive today. I love to just go for drives in the country. Everything is so green this time of year. Isaac and Savannah love it too. They feel that they have to help me with directions though. They are so funny. Their choices in clothing are funny too. Today, Savannah was wearing a swimsuit top (long, tankini type), and a pink flouncy skirt. Isaac was wearing blue shorts, inside out. No shirt, of course. He doesn't like to wear shirts. Since we were just going for a drive, I didn't see the point in changing their clothes. Hopefully some of my good taste will rub off on them eventually. ;)

My first "Better Homes and Gardens" magazine came in today. I'm excited! I'm really into magazines, for some reason. I haven't subscribed to anything new in a while. It is fun to look through magazines while watching S & I play in the pool. I have also been branching out and reading some new books. I usually start something, only to get disappointed at the poorly written pages, and start reading "Anne of Green Gables" for the umpteenth time. Or some other book that I love already. Anyway, this summer so far I've been reading "The Help", "Blue Like Jazz", and now "Searching for God Knows What". I'm not finished with that last one yet.

Anyhow, I'm boring myself with these mundane details of my life, and I hear the twins getting up from their nap. :)

Savannah is so sweet. She arranged the little pumpkins around the living room tonight. Again. :) She asked if she could put some on her kitchen set, to "make it pirdy."  She got me water, without me asking, because she noticed that I "have a throat".  She told me that she loves me SO MUCH, many times, and gave me lots of hugs and kisses.  After arranging the pumpkins, she was very excited about her accomplishment & danced around the living room.

Now I have to go to bed before my eyelids close completely.

This has been a beautiful fall day. I had lots of housework to do (built up from the weekend)  but we went to the park and had a picnic instead. Unfortunately, right before we left, Savannah ran into the corner of a wall (leading into the hallway), and hit her face so hard she fell down. Too excited to pay attention I guess! The corner of the "chair rail" that sticks out actually scraped off some of the skin on her cheek, and she had a bruise. I held ice on it for a while & gave her children's ibuprofen (Savannah calls it "ivy pwofen"), and that really seemed to help! Poor baby! Of course we prayed for her, and I am always grateful that it isn't worse!

We still had a fun picnic! We met some friends at the park, and the babies *ahem* children had fun playing in the leaves & on the playground. I took some great pictures on our little nature hike. I say all kinds of things to get Isaac and Savannah to look at the camera and smile, and at one point I said "say brownies!". From that point until we left, Savannah talked about brownies and said "Mama, I'm ready to go eat brownies now. I reawy need to go eat some brownies!"

Isaac climbed a tree - a little, anyway. He was loving it. I took lots of pictures! He was being so sweet! While we were walking, I asked him if he had to go to the bathroom, and told him I really didn't want him to go in his pants. I turned to ask Savannah, then turned back around, and of course he had his pants down and was peeing on the walkway. It really didn't make any difference since no one was around anyway, but I was impressed with his speed. Ha! And he proudly said "there Mama, I peepeed!"

Tonight, when I was getting ready to read them a bed time story, Savannah reminded me that I hadn't read their Curious George ABC book today. She said "I haven't learned my ABC's today!" So we read over it, which can (surprisingly) be a little frustrating for me. I know this is silly of me, but Isaac gets stuck on certain letters and keeps repeating the sound for that letter over and over. Savannah, on the other hand, likes to trace each letter with her index finger and repeat the letter and its sound. They both have different ways of learning, that's for sure! They are both left handed, but I think Savannah may be ambidextrous, because when she is writing or coloring she starts with her left hand, but switches back and forth between left and right. She seems to do just as well with both. Isaac always uses his left hand. He is a sweetie, they both are, and I make an effort not to show it if I get frustrated. I feel that I am not the best teacher yet. If I have difficulty teaching them something and things get "hairy", we just move on to the next thing. I definitely don't want them to feel that Mama is mad at them for not learning something "fast enough"! I just need more experience, teaching children how to read is very intimidating for me!

I just wanted to write a little of what happened today, just to look back and remember what a "normal" fall day is when they are 3 and a half, almost 4!! I love this time of year, and I hope Savannah and Isaac love it too, and that they have good memories!

It is a very pleasant Saturday. I am at my parent's house & they are eating lunch. I made a huge breakfast so I am not hungry, plus I have to walk off some of that breakfast ;) Ha!

A lot of things have been going on lately. Joe's birthday was last month & he turned 26! I made a chocolate cake with walnuts, but as I was mixing I got a phone call and left out the eggs!! I was very mad at myself, but fortunately it still turned out ok. It tasted very fudgy.

We had a twins play group last Sat. That was fun. We went to Lee Park & Savannah made a friend! It was so cute! I came over to her and she said "Mama, I'm talkin' to this girl", and then her and the little girl (named Grace) walked around the playground together and talked. SO PRECIOUS.

Isaac has been talking more too.  Joe teaches them to call people "poopoo head" (I know, I'm so ashamed!). Anyway, the other day Joe said something to Isaac, teasing him (can't remember what), and Isaac said "You a poopoo head". We were so surprised, and couldn't help but laugh. He has never said that before!

Joe has been dove hunting the last couple of wkends, and he really loves it ;) Meanwhile, I have been making unhealthy breakfasts on Saturdays! With my cravings, you would almost think that I am a pregnant women . I'm not though, so I don't have a good excuse. This morning we went to the grocery store, and Savannah was so cute carrying her little purse & helping me put things in the buggy! Isaac was so cute helping me push the buggy! Everywhere! He did not like it when I lingered at one shelf looking at things & would continue to push the buggy :) I got out of the store in twenty min. though, so maybe I should let him help more often. On the way home I was changing the channel on the radio when I heard a voice from the back seat (Savannah) saying " Mama! I liked that song!". It is so funny that they are getting old enough to fuss at me for changing the radio station!

We had a great wkend! Saturday was so fun! Brittany & Trey came for a visit and we went kayaking down bear creek.  I have been wanting to go to bear creek for a long time, and it was great! It was so beautiful. I did fall out once, but other than that it was a laid back day :)We really enjoyed their visit.
